Frequently Asked Questions
These are some frequently asked questions that you might be asking yourself. If you have other questions, please feel free to contact us. We are happy to clarify any questions you have about our services and how we can help you!
Are you a moving company?
Some people refer to us as full-service movers. We aren't a moving company and do not transport your belongings, but we can contract and coordinate your move with the movers of your choice or our recommendation. We are able to help with any or every aspect of the your move from sorting, packing, unpacking and setting up your new home, but we choose to let movers do the heavy lifting.
My children live out of town, how can you help me move?
We like to be called the "children in town". We can help in the downsizing and moving process for you or coordinate with your family to reduce the workload for your children.
What if I am not moving right now, is there anything you can help me with now?
We are happy to help you long before you are ready to move. Whether you plan to move in the future or just need to de-clutter your home and make it a safer environment for you or your family member, we are able to help. We can get a head start on the downsizing process, helping you prepare for a move or de-clutter your home at a pace that is comfortable for you.
What is "aging in place"?
Some of our clients want to stay in their homes as long as possible but a few adjustments need to be made to make it functional for everyday living. We can move things to a lower cabinet, rearrange furniture, install safety bars, and add a ramp out front or any other modifications you may need in your home.
How long should I expect it to take to get ready for my move?
This is a hard question to answer without seeing your home. We are happy to offer a free consultation to give you a better idea of the amount of time your move will take. There are many factors that can vary from move to move. In order to better answer this question, we will have to see how full your current home is, how much help your family is able to offer through the process, and how much assistance you will need from us to help you in this process. During our consultation we will discuss your final goals of this move, what is important to you, and the timeline by which we need to work to ensure we make the move as efficient as possible.
Will there be strangers in my home?
We want you to feel very comfortable with us and our employees. We would never hire anyone we would not bring into our own homes. Besides our employees, the only people who would be in your home would be our movers, whom we have a great relationship with and have researched and interviewed thoroughly. Periodically, we have people who are picking up donations or other unneeded items.
My parents have already moved into a retirement community, but still have a house full of things they no longer need. Can you help?
We would love to help! Now that your parents already have the belongings they want and need at their new home, we can begin to sort through the items left at the previous home. We are happy to help you sort through all the items and offer advice as to how to best find new homes for these belongings. Anything that other family members do not want, or that we cannot sell or donate, we will make arrangements to have hauled away for you. We can help in this process as little or as much as you need.
I have always used the same charity. Can we donate to them?
Definitely! We are happy to use the charity of your choice. If they will not take an item or you don't have a preference, we will make donations to other local charities with your permission.
I am not a senior citizen, but really need some help moving and de-cluttering my home. Can you help me?
Yes. Although our specialty is seniors, we are happy to help anyone of any age who could benefit from our services and expertise.
